THE FUNDACIÓN IBERDROLA ISSUES CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR ITS SECOND SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDIES IN SPAIN

The subjects of study will be linked to the spheres of energy, environment and sustainable development

  • These scholarships are intended for Spanish, British and U.S. university graduates wishing to pursue postgraduate studies
  • The Fundación IBERDROLA will pay the registration fees in full and recipients will also be paid EURO 10,800 over the course of a nine-month period

Following the success attained in the first edition last year, the Fundación IBERDROLA has announced the second call for applications to its Energy and Environment Scholarships Scheme for postgraduate studies in Spain.

For the 2011/2012 academic year, Fundación IBERDROLA offers 25 scholarships for postgraduate studies linked to eight areas of knowledge: renewable energies, sustainable energy system, environment and biodiversity, clean carbon technologies, emissions management and carbon capture, energy efficiency, energy storage, electric vehicles and smart grids.

These scholarships are open to graduates and students in the final year of their studies, of Spanish, British or U.S. nationalities. This initiative by the Fundación IBERDROLA reflects the multinational reality of the Group, which has its main areas of action in Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.

In granting these scholarships, the Fundación IBERDROLA will pay the full registration fees, as well as EURO 10,800 to each student, divided in nine monthly payments between October 2011 and June 2012.

In selecting the beneficiaries, the institution will value, among other issues, knowledge of languages and the student’s willingness to travel. Preference will be given to those applying to study the postgraduate degree in a different region to that where they have obtained their first degree.

The details of the scholarship scheme run by the Fundación IBERDROLA may be consulted on the websitewww.fundacioniberdrola.org, which contains information on the requirements and procedures that are necessary in order to be eligible for these scholarships. The call for applications will remain open until 7 February next and the decision will be issued in mid June.

This initiative is part of the Fundación IBERDROLA’s Steering Plan for 2010-2014. As well as striving to enhance the quality of life of people in the territories where the Company operates, the plan also works towards professional excellence as one of its key focuses, with a view to the necessary transformation of the energy and economic models.
